STUDENT MANAGEMENT

Print PDF

Welcome to the Go Train Student information pages.

Before you enrol or enter into a contract for our training you must read about, and understand the training, assessment and support services we also provide. We are also legally obliged as a responsible Registered Training Organisation (RTO) to explain your rights and obligations as a student of our RTO, and outline the policies and procedures we and you must follow before, during and after your training. On our website, we outline what is required of you, and what outcomes you will achieve when you complete your chosen course of study.

If you have found your way to this RTO Management System (RMS) website for the first time, you would have done so via links from our Go Train website. From here in the RMS, we manage and administer the daily operation of our RTO, and provide you with all the information you will need before, during and after your training experience with Go Train. Essentially, this RMS is a second website or the 'backend' of our online college. We run this RMS in the background to the main website to facilitate the sharing of information between our Learner Management System (LMS), our Servers, the Website and You.

Before you enrol in any of our courses you must read all of the following information, terms and conditions:

1. Student Guide / RMS pages

The content of these pages in the RMS is your Student Guide. This RMS provides detailed advice and instructions to you, on a wide range of administrative topics related to your training and assessment experience with us. The RMS provides you with detailed summary information on what you will need before, during and after enrolment in one of our units or courses, and you are expected to refer to this RMS before seeking email or verbal assistance from GTI staff. You should treat this RMS as your primary reference point and instruction guide whilst undertaking your training with Go Train.

2. Student Enrolment

To enrol in any of our courses you must first start at the RTO Website. This is a critical part of the enrolment procedure. Each unit requires the use of different pieces of equipment and facilities which you must provide access to and have in place before you enrol. Some units you can proceed with online training immediately, others require correspondence between us and your employer

These specific entry requirements are outlined for you on the website, which you must read first. On the website there are documents in some units that also need to be downloaded and completed before you register and purchase the unit.

If you already are a student enrolled in another course, you can undertake multiple courses at the same time. It is possible to directly enrol from within your student portal, but you must first read the course information before you do so.

Please note ** By registering for the unit you are not automatically classed as an enrolled student. You only become officially 'enrolled' in a unit when we have reviewed your registration and the documents you supply. We must also ensure that your general health and safety will not be compromised whilst you complete your training, and determine that you can meet all the units specific equipment and academic entry requirements.

3.  Student Safety & Welfare

Your safety and general welfare is of paramount importance to us.

Some of our training units contain requests for you to either clean, maintain or operate hazardous equipment, machinery and food items. Potentially these items may be harmful to you and your assessors, and you under your Duty of Care obligations are asked to follow the following policies and procedures, and where possible seek full supervision.

4. Student Support Services

As a student of Go Train, you will have access to a range of support services to assist you with your learning, training and assessment. We supply all the information you will need in each units training material. If however this is not sufficient for you, you can seek further assistance using the internal email, or for technical support you can use the Help-desk link in the LMS.

If you require special needs assistance for your disability, or Language, Literacy or Numeracy support, Go Train will can provide you with assistance via email and verbal correspondence. We may also refer you to and provide you access with various Private enterprise and Government Programs.

Prior to you commencing training in our Nationally Recognised training units, we require you to complete a LLN test. We are obliged to identify before you begin training if you may require assistance. This ensures that you receive the necessary assistance to satisfactorily complete your course.

5.  Access to your records

GTI is an accredited RTO and must keep all your records for a defined period. Please understand that these records shall be kept in a fully confidential manner in strict accordance with our records procedures and Privacy & Confidentiality Policy

In most cases all your records are stored in our Learner Management System. Each student of Go Train has at any time the ability to access their records of their learning participation and  progress, assessment results and certification. At any point in the training and assessment of a unit or course, an online student can access their records and progress in their student portal. The login user-names and passwords will be valid for 12 months.

6. Fees & Charges

It is a mandatory requirement that you as a prospective student indicate clearly to us your understanding and acceptance of the fees you will be charged. As you will be in most cases purchasing your training unit from us online, and you will be using a secure payment gateway and making an online transaction via our bank, using your credit card; we want to make sure that you are really very sure that you know exactly what you are purchasing so that we can ensure that you receive the correct services from us.

Each course or unit of training we offer has a fixed fee that is charged. This fee for each unit is clearly specified on the Go Train website page relevant to each unit or course advertised. Please note that fees and other charges will change from time to time, so please ensure that your understanding of our fees is up to date:

7. Complaints and Academic Appeals

Go Train takes all forms of complaints extremely seriously. When a customer complains, Go Train takes a positive and pro-active approach to the issue, and sees a complaint as an opportunity to improve its services. We openly encourage positive and negative feedback via the portal on our website which you can use at any time.

For more serious issues such as a complaint against a member of staff or by a member of staff against the management team of Go Train, there is a detailed documented process, and downloadable form made available to all.

You also have the right to appeal an unfavourable assessment result at any time .

8. Practical Placement Agreements (PPA)

Practical Placement is a vital component of the training and assessment delivered by distance and online at Go Train. It is the central component of the skills development and learning that you  undertake to gain competency in your Nationally Recognised unit.  The PPA is the critical document we use to assess your suitability for entry into an online unit or course. You will not gain entry to the final exam in any course that requires a PPA, until we can be sure you have access to suitable equipment and facilities.

It is your obligation to seek out a Venue with the required equipment and facilities before you register for any unit. It is expected that you will use the facilities of your current place of employment or training organisation. If this is not possible you can use the facilities of any other Hospitality Enterprise or Hospitality Training Venue, as long as permission is given by the employer of the Venue, and that the Venue has all the equipment as listed in the ‘Equipment Check-list’ at the rear of the respective units  PPA.

To complete this entry requirement, you simply download the PPA from the website, present it to your employer/ venue manager to seek formal permission to use the Venues resources for the purposes of completing your skills training and assessments. The employer needs to complete it for you and you both must sign the agreement. You then make a scanned copy and upload it after you enrol, into your Student Profile.  Once you have uploaded it to your profile, your assessor will receive an email notifying them that the PPA is ready for review and validation
